Warrants for arrest of 3 war criminals

A Chapainawabganj court yesterday issued warrants for arrest of three alleged war criminals in the martyred freedom fighter Haider Ali Master murder case.
The accused are Giasuddin Chairman, 60, and Jamshed Ali, 60, of Bashbari village in Nachol upazila and Khoka, 55, of Jobai village of Shapahar upazila in Noagaon district.
Jarina Bewa, the widow of slain Haider Ali, filed the murder case with a Chapainawabganj court on April 21 against the three.
In the complaint, she alleged that the three accused took out her husband of their house at gunpoint and tied his hand during the War of Liberation on December 8 in 1971. They also set her house on fire. Since then, no trace of Haider Ali had been found.
Jarina also mentioned that she did not file any case earlier as no war criminal was tried after the War of Liberation and lodged the case now hoping to get justice as a neutral caretaker government is in power.
The court accepted her complaint and directed the officer-in-charge (OC) of Nachol Police Station to submit a report after investigation. The OC submitted his report to the court against the three on June 7 after investigation.
Chapainawabganj district Judicial Magistrate Mostafa Kamal took the case into cognizance on the basis of police report and issued the warrants for arrest of the accused.
