Obaidul Qader to go to India for treatment
Awami League (AL) Joint General Secretary Obaidul Qader will go to New Delhi for treatment within a couple of days as a medical board at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) advised his treatment abroad.
Ramna police returned the AL leader's passport, mobile phone and other belongings to his lawyer following an order of a Dhaka court on Monday. Qader was released on bail recently and is now undergoing treatment at BSMMU.
Talking to The Daily Star, the AL leader said he would take admission to Delhi Apollo Hospital where he underwent treatment after being injured in the August 21 grenade attack on an AL rally in 2004.
A number of grenade splinters still remain in his body and the medical board suggests immediate surgery to remove the splinters.
Quader said he has already applied for visa and may leave for Delhi on Friday or Saturday.
