The Anti Corruption Commission (ACC) has requested all government employees and officials to submit their wealth statement to the government (The Financial Express, 09 Sept. 08). I read this news when I was visiting Rajshahi.
In Rajshshi, there is a beautiful house which belongs to one police officer. Not only this house, he owns a lot of other things. Now my question is how much salary does a police officer get? After meeting his all family expenditures, how could he make a palace-like building? The ACC should look into such matters seriously and award exemplary punishment to the corrupt. If many other corrupt people who work in DESA, Titas Gas and other service organisations could be arrested for corruption, then why should police officers not receive the same treatment?
