Awami League joint general secretary Obaidul Quader yesterday called on the caretaker government to take immediate steps to release the party president, Sheikh Hasina, permanently.
Quader, who was released on bail on Friday, made the call while talking to Dhaka city AL leaders who met him at Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University Hospital.
Quader, who is now undergoing treatment at the hospital, also demanded the release of all political detainees and withdrawal of all 'false' cases against the AL president as well as other leaders.
He also urged the countrymen to pray for his early recovery.
City AL acting president MA Aziz and acting general secretary Qamrul Islam were among the leaders who met Kader at the hospital in the afternoon.
AL Acting General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam, Col (retd) Faruk Khan, Dr Abdur Razzak, Shafiul Arefin Tutul and other senior leaders also visited Quader at the hospital last night.
Quader, who received multiple injuries in his body in the August 21 grenade attack, might fly to Bangkok or New Delhi for better treatment this week.
