Prof Md Afzal Hossain joined Hajee Danesh University of Science and Technology as its vice chancellor (VC) on Thursday.
Prior to his new assignment, Prof Hossain had been serving as the head of the department of Biochemistry at Bangladesh Agricultural University (BAU).
Sources said Prof Ruhul Amin of the department of Agro Industry and Food Processing of Hajee Danesh University had been serving as the acting VC since April 22, 2007 following the removal of previous VC Mosharraf Hossain Miah.
Prof Afzal Hossain, the new vice-chancellor, started his teaching career as a research associate in 1977 and joined the BAU as a lecturer in 1978.
