Bangladesh is replacing its three army and two air force contingent in United Nations Peacekeeping Mission in Congo (MONUC), says an ISPR release.
Under this programme, first batch of 122-member army team led by Commander BANBAT-6 Lt Col Saiful Alam left for Congo by an UN-chartered aircraft on Wednesday night.
The replacement will be continued until October 14 and 1333 armed forces personnel in different ranks will go to Congo while 1333 personnel will return home by ten flights after successful completion of their tenure.
A seven-member BAF delegation led by Assistant Chief of Air Staff (Admin) Air Commodore M Delwar Hossain left the city for Congo by the same flight to witness the activities of BAF peacekeepers there.
A seven-member media team also flew to Congo with the replacement contingent to observe different daily operational and administrative activities run by Bangladeshi peacekeepers.
