Noted lyricist and a teacher of Bangla department of Dhaka University Prof Dr Mohammad Moniruzzaman passed away at Bangladesh Medical College Hospital in the city yesterday at the age of 72.
He left behind his wife, one son, one daughter and a host of relatives, colleagues and admirers to mourn his death.
He was honoured with many awards including Ekushey Padak, Bangla Academy Padak and Alaol Padak for his contribution in Bangla language and literature.
He composed many songs on background of the Liberation War.
