Armed muggers snatched around Tk 5 lakh from an official of a distributor company of banglalink in the port city yesterday.
Sources said a group of four armed snatchers in a CNG-run auto-rickshaw intercepted Rupam Das, cashier of a distributor company of cellphone operator banglalink, at Nasirabad at around 11:00am and snatched away Tk 5.1 lakh from Rupam holding him at gunpoint.
Rupam was going to the GEC branch of Exim Bank from his nearby office on foot to deposit the money, they added.
Abul Kalam Azad, manager (Administration) of the firm, filed a case with Panchlaish Police Station in this connection. Police were interrogating Rupam till filing of this report.
