Community pry teachers continue taking classes 2 hours a day
Community primary teachers yesterday continued taking classes only for two hours a day protesting the government's failure to take a decision to hike their salary.
“Ten days have already passed since Primary and Mass Education Adviser Rasheda K Choudhury promised the community teachers on August 25 that a decision would be taken to this end within the next two or three days, but no decision has yet been taken,” said the teachers.
However, the teachers also said that only two hour is not enough to provide education among the teachers.
“It is impossible to maintain our family with only Tk 1200 per month. Now we have to do others' works after finishing two-hour classes. The students are now facing tremendous problem because only two hours is not enough,” said Hafizur Rahman, secretary general of Bangladesh Community Primary Teachers' Association.
He also said that around 8 lakh students are not receiving proper education due to their agitation.
The agitation will continue till their demands are met, he added.
