A victim of 'harassment and torture' after being arrested in a false murder case has lodged a case with a Barisal court against 10 people including the complainant and investigation officer (IO) of the false case.
Following the case filed by Sobeda Begum on Tuesday, Judge Md Shahidullah Barisal District and Sessions Judge's Court yesterday ordered the chief judicial magistrate of Barisal to investigate the allegation.
Sub-inspector Akhteruddin Khan, IO of the false murder case, Selim Howladar, complainant of the case, Nasima Begum who was mentioned as 'murdered' in the false case, and Shamsu Howlader, Babul Howladar, Alamgir Howladar, Shahabuddin, Hanif Sardar, Joynul Chowkidar and Tahmina, witnesses of the false murder case, have been made accused in the case filed by Sobeda Begum.
Sobeda Begum alleged that Nasima Begum, wife of Sobeda's son expatriate Shamim Munshi, and Nasima's brother Shamsu Howlader fled from the house in Muladi upazila on the night of January 21, 2008.
Nasima had an extra-marital affair, Sobeda said.

He lodged a murder case with Muladi Police Station on February 26 this year against father-in-law, mother-in-law, brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law of Nasima and others.
IO Akhtaruddin Khan demanded Tk 5 lakh as bribe from the accused in the false murder case and arrested Nasima's mother-in-law Sobeda Begum, on February 27 following their failure to meet the demand, Sobeda alleged in the case.
The IO tortured Sobeda when she was under four days' remand and her husband Mahbubur Rahman had to pay Tk 70 thousand as bribe to save her from further torture, she added.
Later on May 10, 'murdered' Nasima was found alive at Aila Patakata village under Keorabunia union of Barguna district and Barguna police sent Nasima to Muladi Police Station and the court sent her to safe custody in Barisal jail.
