Barnamala celebrates 13th anniversary

The 13th anniversary of 'Barnamala,' a cultural organisation in the district, was observed here amidst much fanfare recently.
To mark the occasion, the organisation also accorded a reception to seven individuals for their contribution to their respective fields and organised a discussion and cultural programme.
The discussion was held at Satkhira Pourasabha auditorium with its President Shamima Parveen in the chair.
Satkhira Municipality Mayor, Sheikh Ashraful Haque, was the chief guest while district Sangskritik Parishad General Secretary, Henri Sardar, was the special guest.
Among others Principal Asit Kumar Majumdar, Professor Kazi Waliullah and Advocate Rabiul Islam Khan spoke at the discussion.
Appreciating the role of the Barnamala in promoting the local cultural practices, speakers hoped that the organisation would continue its efforts.
Later on the chief guest handed over crests and certificates to the individuals who were accorded the reception. The recipients are -- Farooque Nazneen (in gardening), Professor Kazi Waliullah (in literature), Principal Asit Kumar Majumdar (in education), Mufti Abdur Rahim (in journalism), Syed Nawshad Ertaza (organiser), Shankari Hajari and Alfaz Ali (in acting).
After the discussion a cultural programme was held at the venue. Young learners of the organisation performed Rabindra Sangeet, Nazrul Sangeet, folk and adhunik songs and more. The programme also included a dance performance. Panna, Beli, Prema, Sara, Neha, Nova, Shrabani, Ritu, Setu, Anu, Pragya and Asha performed in the dance.
