Save the Environment Movement and Bangladesh Environment Lawyers' Association (Bela) formed a human chain at Dhanmondi in the city and distributed leaflets yesterday to raise awareness about noise pollution.
They called on transport owners and drivers to refrain from using horns unnecessarily to reduce noise pollution.
They also demanded that the government take steps to curb noise pollution in cities across the country and enforce the rules regarding control of noise pollution.
The two organisations carried out the campaign as part of their three-month programme to sensitise people to this menace with a view to combating it.
Save the Environment Movement Chairman Abu Naser Khan, Dr Halim Dad Khan, Taufiqur Rahman Sentu, Shishir, Naznin Akhter, Sabina Naeem and Nazmul Haq took part in the human chain programme.
