Abbas Kiarostami receives Venice prize

World-renowned Iranian filmmaker Abbas Kiarostami has received the Glory to the Filmmaker award at the 65th Venice Film Festival.
Kiarostami won the prize for his film "Shirin" which was screened at the event's "Out of Competition" section.
The award, which is named after the film "Glory to the Filmmaker" by Japanese director Takeshi Kitano, honours eclectic masters of world cinema.
Kitano presented the award to Kiarostami in a ceremony held at the historical Sala Grande of the Palazzo del Cinema.
Filmmaker, painter, designer and photographer, Kiarostami has received many prestigious international awards, including the Golden Palm at Cannes in 1997 and the Silver Lion at Venice Film Festival in 1999.
Some 52 films are being screened at the Venice Film Festival that runs from August 27 to September 6.
