15 men among BNP, Jamaat leaders sued in Khulna
Fifteen Four-party Alliance leaders and 100 other unidentified persons were sued for violating Emergency Powers Act by forming a human chain here on Wednesday.
They are city ameer of Jamaat Mian Golam Parwar, city BNP secretary Nazrul Islam Manju, city convenor of Jatiyo Party Advocate Latifur Rahman Labu, city president of Khelafat-e-Majlis Mowlana Sakhawat Hossain, BNP panel mayor Anwarul Kadir Khokan, senior vice President of city BNP Morshed Alam, president of Daulatpur Police Station BNP Mir Kaised Ali, Sheikh Mosharraf Hossain, Jalil Khan Kalam, central leader of Jubo Dal, Arifuzzaman Apu, Chatra Dal leader Asaduzzaman Murad, Ekramul Kabir Milton, Chatra Dal leader Hasanur Rashid Miraz and Chatra Shibir leader Mian Golam Kuddus.
Sub-inspector (SI) Nasiruddin Ahmed lodged the FIR with Khulna Sadar Police Station.
Khulna Sadar Police Station officer-in-charge Ataur Rahman said the accused created lawlessness in the city. They also vandalised and pelted brickbats at police during their programme, said assistant police Commissioner Nesaruddin Ahmed.
Another report adds: The accused could not be arrested till yesterday.
Investigation officer of the case, SI Anowar Hossain said more names would be added to the FIR on confirmation of their involvement in the incident after viewing video footage and still picture.
Earlier, four-party alliance leaders formed the human chain demanding unconditional release of Begum Khaleda Zia and sending Tarique Rahman abroad for better treatment.
Meanwhile, four-party alliance here issued a press statement yesterday urging Khulna Metropolitan Police administration to withdraw the case against their leaders.
