NATIONAL KABADDI
Holders Bangladesh Rifles, Bangladesh Army and Khulna moved into the semifinals of the 28th National Kabaddi Championship at the Stadium Gymnasium in Comilla.
BDR earned a comfortable 50-30 victory over Tagail, Army crushed Dhaka 43-13, while Khulna edged past hosts Comilla 8-7 to reach the last four.
In the semifinals this afternoon, BDR will play Khulna while Army will meet the winners of the Satkhira-Police quarterfinal.
FED CUP TABLE TENNIS
Bangladesh Biman and Abahani moved into the women's team final of the invitational Federation Cup table tennis competition at the Wooden Floor Gymnasium.
Biman beat Dhaka 3-1 with wins from Rumi and Turbina. For Abahani, Saleha, Joyoti and Shoma won their respective matches to trounce Narail 3-0.
In the men's team event, Biman and Bagerhat moved into the finals from Group A while Feni and Pabna made it through wins from Group B.
In the boys' team final, Biman face Dhaka in the final.
SCHOOLS RUGBY
St Gregory High School thrashed Hammadia High School 17-5 in the first-ever School Rugby tournament, sponsored by Diamond Melamine, at the Outer Stadium rugby ground.
Hammadia recovered somewhat after going down by seven points to none in the first half as they scored five times in the second half. But St Gregory were always better as they ran out winners.
In the other matches, Nawabpur Government High School beat Islambagh Ashraf Ali High School 8-5 while Rahamatullah Model High School beat West End High School 8-7.
