Road accidents kill 4
Four people were killed and eight others injured in separate road accidents in Chittagong, Sirajganj and Barisal in the last two days.
BSS from Chittagong reports: Two people were killed and another injured in two separate road accidents in the city yesterday.
The victims were identified as Manju Mia, 30, a rickshaw puller, and Mohammad Sohel, 14, a pushcart helper.
Manju received head injuries when a truck hit his rickshaw in the city's Bayezid Bostami area at about 8:00pm on Tuesday.
He succumbed to his injuries at Chittagong Medical College Hospital (CMCH) at 1:00pm yesterday.
Earlier, Sohel and Ilias were critically injured when a truck hit their handcart at Agrabad at 2:00am yesterday.
Locals and police rushed them to CMCH where attending doctors declared Sohel dead. Ilias is undergoing treatment at the hospital.
Our correspondent in Sirajganj adds: A minor girl was killed and six others were injured in a road accident on the Sirajganj-Enayetpur road at Dhopakandi under Belkuchi upazila in the district.
The victim was identified as Riya Ghosh, 5, daughter of Ashok Ghosh.
The accident took place at around 3:30pm when a Sirajganj-bound bus from Enayetpur turned turtle after the driver lost control, injuring seven passengers.
Of the injured, Riya succumbed to her injuries on the way to hospital. Six other injured were admitted to Belkuchi and Sirajganj Sadar hospitals.
Our correspondent in Barisal adds: A motorcyclist was killed and his co-rider injured in a road accident on Barisal-Dhaka highway in Kashipur DGFI office area in the city yesterday.
The dead was identified as Abul Kashem, 40, but the identity of the injured could not be known immediately.
The accident occurred when a passenger bus dashed their motorcycle at about 12:35pm. Both the riders fell into a roadside ditch.
People rushed them to Barisal Medical College Hospital where on-duty doctors declared Kashem dead.
