TIB holds rallies at Satkhira, C'nawabganj

Students of Satkhira Government College and Chapainawabganj in separate functions yesterday made solemn pledge not to bow down to any kind of corruption and work for resisting the menace in the society.
Students of Satkhira Government College formed a human chain, held rally and took oath to work for resisting corruption from the society, reports our Satkhira correspondent.
Muktangon, an organisation floated by the students of the college, and Sachetan Nagarik Committee (Conscious Citizens Committee) -- Sanak, a chapter of Transparency International Bangladesh (TIB), jointly organised the unique programme on the college premises as part of awareness campaign against corruption.
Earlier teachers, students as well as general people joined a human chain beside the road in front of the college.
Later at a rally held at the college auditorium, speakers urged the teachers and students as well as the youths to play more active role to fight against corruption.
They urged creating awareness among people by inspiring them with slogans 'Jago manush -- durniti pratirodhe jago' and 'Say no to corruption'.
The next generation should be made aware of the vitiating influence of corruption and all sections of people, especially the students and youths have to take firm stance against corruption, they said.
People from all sections of the society should join hands in bid to root out corruption that acts as a barrier to development initiatives in the country, they said.
At an oath taking ceremony administered by Prof Sukumar Das, Principal of Satkhira Government College, students vowed to fight against corruption unitedly for the sake of the all-out development of the country.
Satkhira Sachetan Nagarik Committee's Satkhira district chapter convenor Principal Asit Kumar Majumdar was the chief guest while Vice-principal Prof Abdul Hamid and Aftab Uddin were special guests at the function with Principal Sukumar Das in the chair.
Among others, Principal Emdadul Haque, Shah Jahan Hossain Saju, Nazmul Haque, Emran Kabir, TIB's assistant programme officer Mohammad Abdur Rahim spoke.
