Janmashtami celebration in Tangail

The Hindu community in Tangail celebrated Janmashtami, the birthday of Lord Krishna, amid festivity and religious fervour on Sunday.
Sri Sri Kalibari, Tangail arranged a two-day programme on the occasion.
The programme included puja, peace procession in the town, kirtan and discussion at Kalibari.
In the morning, devotees in Tangail brought out a colourful procession from Baro Kalibari, which ended at Sabalia Ishckon Temple.
On this occasion, a discussion was also held at Kalibari with Suranjan Das in the chair.
Tangail Deputy Commissioner (DC) Akhter Ali Sarkar and Superintendent of Police (SP) Abdul Mannan attended the discussion as chief and special guest respectively.
Among others, Tangail Additional Deputy Commissioner (education and development) Kamalaranjan Das, Bijoy Krishna Chowdhury and Ashish Kumar Chowdhury spoke at the event.
Earlier on Saturday, kirtan and other devotional songs were held at the same venue.
