281 fertiliser bags seized in 2 dists Two arrested
Security forces recovered 281 sacks of fertiliser from the districts of Satkhira and Pabna yesterday and Saturday.
Our Satkhira Correspondent reports: Bangladesh Rifles (BDR), in two separate drives, conducted in Ramerdanga and Rasulpur in Sadar upazila, recovered 154 sacks of Indian potash Saturday night. Two machines being used to mix potash with salt were also recovered from the spot, BDR said.
BDR arrested Mahidul Islam, 30, of Ramerdanga village and Shafiqul Islam, 32, of Rasulpur in Satkhira Sadar upazila.
Mahidul was engaged in mixing salt with Indian potash and packing it in Bangladeshi sacks at a house at Ramerdanga village. BDR recovered 113 sacks of Indian potash from the spot. Following his confessional statement, BDR arrested Shafiqul from his house at Rasulpur and recovered 41 sacks of salt mixed Indian potash.
Our Pabna Correspondent reports: Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) recovered 37 sacks of unauthorised fertiliser worth Tk 1,36,900 from Muladuli railway station yesterday afternoon.
Being informed, Rab raided the 6-up mail train at the station and seized the fertiliser from the train which was coming from Chapainwabganj and heading towards Sirajganj.
