DU teacher on forced leave
Dhaka University (DU) authorities gave one-year 'forced leave' to a teacher of the Department of Psychology as the probe committee found his involvement with sexual harassment to a female student of the department.
DU syndicate on Saturday took the decision of giving him 'forced leave' as per the recommendations of probe committee formed to investigate the allegation of sexual harassment against the teacher.
A female student of psychology department brought an allegation of sexual harassment against the teacher and she along with her father submitted a memorandum to the university authorities on April 10 in this regard.
DU authorities formed a committee headed by Teasurer Prof Syed Abul Kalam Azad to probe the allegation. The committee submitted its report to the vice chancellor last week.
The syndicate also formed a five-member committee headed by Pro-Vice Chancellor Prof AFM Yusuf Haider to decide the punishment to the teacher. The committee was asked to submit its report within one month.
Earlier, the academic committee of the department relieved the teacher of all activities of the department.
