'Use modern techniques to learn English'
Speakers at a workshop yesterday said in the era of globalisation, students should use modern techniques to learn English as a foreign language in an easy way, says a press release.
Modern techniques and methods are needed for English language teaching so that the students can easily learn the language, which is a must for them to become competitive in the present era, they added.
Bangladesh English Language Teachers' Association (Belta) and Londonmet Bangladesh Alumni Association (LBAA) jointly organised the workshop styled 'Facilitation skills in English language teaching for higher secondary teachers' at Presidency University in the city.
LBAA was formed by Bangladeshi students who completed their graduations or post-graduations from London Metropolitan University, the single largest university in London.
Nearly 30 English language teachers from different schools and colleges in and around the city participated in the workshop inaugurated by Belta President Prof Arifa Rahman as the chief guest.
Secretary General Dr Rubina Khan and Operation Manager of London Metropolitan University, Bangladesh office KM Mazharul Islam also spoke.
