Pirganj upazila agri officer to face action
Rangpur district fertiliser monitoring committee has made a proposal to the Director General (DG) of the Department of Agriculture Extension (DAE) to take action against Pirganj Upazila agriculture officer for his involvement in the recent fertiliser scam in which 300 bags of TSP were sold in black market by a dealer.
The committee also wrote to industries ministry to cancel license of a Mittu and Co as the probe body found its involvement in the scam.
A number of BCIC dealers of Pirganj, with alleged connivance of Upazila agriculture officer Mokbul Hosen sold out 300 bags of Triple Super Phosphate (TSP) meant for sale among farmers at subsidised rate during the last Boro season.
On August 13, Rangpur DAE Deputy Director Kamal Sharif lodged a case against Mittu, proprietor of Mittu and Co, for selling the fertiliser bags without the knowledge of authorities.
A probe team led by Assistant Commissioner (Land) of Pirganj Mostain Billah found the allegation correct.
When contacted, Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Kollol Kumar Chakraborti said, “We are none to take action against them. It is a matter of the ministries concerned.”
Rangpur DAE Deputy Director Kamal Sharif said, “ License of Mittu and Co will be cancelled by industry ministry. Action against the Upazila Agriculture Officer will be taken soon.”
