Four killed, 10 injured in road accidents
At least four people were killed and 10 others including six policemen injured in separate road accidents in the city, Brahmanbaria and Narsingdi in last two days.
Our staff correspondent reports: At least two people were killed and four others injured when a bus rammed into a human hauler on Dhaka-Demra road at Konapara under Jatrabari Police Station yesterday.
The dead were identified as Abdul Matin, 30, and Azhar Uddin, 55.
Police said the accident occurred when a Jatrabari-bound human hauler and a Demra-bound bus collided head-on at about 4:00pm.
Police seized the bus and its driver.
Meanwhile, a day-labourer Al-Amin was crushed under the wheels of a speeding microbus while he was crossing the road at Kazla in Jatrabari at around 2:30pm yesterday.
Our Correspondent from Brahmanbaria reports: A minor boy was killed in a road accident on Dhaka-Sylhet road at Islamabad village under Sarail upazila on Friday.
The dead was identified as Md Sumon Mia, 7, son of Abdul Hakim of the village.
Quoting witness police said the accident occurred when Suman was crossing the road, a Dhaka-bound truck knock him down and crushed him under its wheels.
On information, highway police rushed to the spot and recovered the body. Police later handed over the body to its family after primary investigation.
UNB from Narsingdi adds: Six policemen of Narsingdi Sadar Police Station were injured when a bus rammed into their van at Baghata in Sadar upazila yesterday.
Witnesses said a Monohordi-bound bus hit the police van when a team of police was going towards the Dhaka-Sylhet road at about 7.30am to give protection to the motorcade of British High Commissioner Stephen Evans, who is scheduled to go to Sylhet by road.
The injured constables Sohel, Sohag, Lokman, Shariful and Mostafa and Subedar Mahfuz were sent to Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
