GP CellBazaar launches voice-based service
CellBazaar, an innovative market-access service from Grameenphone Ltd, has launched a voice platform to enhance both CellBazaar Service proposition and user convenience, says a press release.
Using Grameenphone CellBazaar, buyers and sellers are able to trade basic goods such as rice, motorcycle and electronics goods through their mobile phones, bringing the benefits of information exchange, community networking and one-to-many trading to a previously unwired rural population.
Since its launch, CellBazaar's market has been used by over a million people. As part of its mission to make technology accessible to people from all walks of life, the service was first launched on SMS. This was followed by WAP (Mobile Internet) and WEB (Computer Internet). Now any Grameenphone user can simply dial 3838 and listen to the latest items on the market in Bengali.
Users can choose from eight categories: Jobs, mobile phones, agriculture, motorcycle, car, electronics, computer, and to-let. Within each category, they can further refine their search by choosing price range and location. Every few hours users will hear new information through this service. Users will pay Tk 2.30 per minute (inclusive of VAT) for the service.
CellBazaar's spirit of innovation has been recognised by international awards, including Telecom Asia "Asian Innovation 2008", GSMA "Technology for Social & Economic Development 2008" and Technology Museum Awards 2007.
