Road crashes kill journo, two others
Three people were killed and five others injured in separate road accidents in Bogra, Magura and Chapainawabganj yesterday.
Our staff correspondent in Bogra reports: A journalist was killed and two others were injured in a road accident at Jamil Nagar Charmatha of the town on Bogra- Dupchachia road yesterday.
The victim was identified as Ainul Huq, 30, a correspondent of Bogra-based the daily Muktabarta.
The injured are Mahfuz Mandal, staff reporter of the daily Inqilab and Asaduzzaman Firoz, reporter of the daily Amar Desh.
Asaduzzaman said he along with the two others was heading towards Dupchachia by a CNG-run three-wheeler from Bogra town.
As the vehicle reached Charmatha, the three-wheeler collided head-on with a bus, he said.
Ainul was rushed to a local hospital where he succumbed to his injuries after one and half hours.
Mahfuz was undergoing treatment at Shaheed Ziaur Rahman Medical College in the town.
Police seized the two vehicles, but both the drivers managed to escape.
Our correspondent in Magura adds: A businessman was killed and three others were injured in a road accident at Alamkhali in Magura Sadar yesterday afternoon.
The victim was identified as Nurul Amin, 35.
The accident occurred on Magura-Jhenidah highway at around 3:30pm when a truck turned turtle as the driver of the vehicle lost control over. Amin died on the spot.
The injured were rushed to Magura Sadar Hospital.
Our correspondent in Chapainawabganj adds: A minor boy was killed in a road accident on Rajshahi-Chapainawabganj highway at Dariapur in Chapainawabganj town yesterday morning.
The victim was identified as Shahadat Hossain, the three-year-old son of Abdus Salam.
The accident occurred at around 8:30am, when a Dhaka-bound speeding passenger bus from Chapainawabganj knocked him down, while he was playing in front of his house at Dariapur. He was killed on the spot.
