City dwellers likely to get DAP map from Jan 1
The city dwellers are going to get the map of detailed area plan (DAP) from January 1, as the work of the plan will be completed before December, said Housing and Public Works Secretary ASM Rashidul Hai yesterday.
“We have instructed the authorities concerned and the firms, responsible for preparing the DAP, to complete the work before December 15 anyhow and have a target to publish the map of detailed area plan by December 16,” said Rashidul after attending the steering committee meeting of DAP at Rajuk office.
Rashidul, who chaired the meeting, asked the Survey of Bangladesh that has taken the charge of checking two percent of survey to complete their job by August 15.
“Public hearing will also be held as part of the process of finalising the DAP from September 15 to November 15,” he added.
The DAP is crucial for planned urbanisation and development of the city and conservation of environment through proper implementation of Dhaka Metropolitan Development Plan.
Geographical and topographical features of the city have been altered recklessly in absence of the DAP during the past decade.
Rajuk Chairman Md Shafiqul Islam, DAP Project Director Tapan Kumar Nath and representatives from Dhaka City Corporation, Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Authority, land ministry and four assigned firms also took part.
