4 killed, 44 injured in road accidents
Four people were killed and 44 others injured in separate road accidents in Jessore, Narail and Patuakhali in the last two days.
UNB reports: Four people, including a couple, were killed and eight others injured in a collision between a bus and a three-wheeler (Nasimon) at Gopalpur crossing in Jessore Sadar yesterday.
The victims, passengers of the Nasimon, were identified as Nizamuddin, an accountant of Ad-din Hospital in the town, his wife Salma Sultana, a nurse of the same hospital, and Tania Khatun, a college student.
Identity of another victim, a young girl, could not be known immediately.
Police said the accident occurred on Jessore-Khulna highway at about
9:00am when a Khulna-bound bus collided with the three-wheeler carrying at least 14 passengers.
The four passengers of the three-wheeler died on the spot while its eight other passengers were injured.
The injured were admitted to Sadar hospital while the conditions of two were stated to be critical.
A correspondent in Narail adds: At least 16 people were injured in a road accident on Jessore-Narail highway near Durbajuri area yesterday.
The accident occurred at about 2:00pm when a Narail-bound passenger bus fell into a roadside ditch while trying to overtake a Nasimon at Durbajuri in Narail Sadar upazila.
Ten of the injured were admitted at Narail Sadar Hospital.
They are Moira, 60, Dilip Mondol, 55, Monohor, 60, Tosrul, 25, Rabiul, 20, Belal, 35, Ishak Mia, Newas 17, Sobhan Sikder, 40, and Mafizur, 35.
Our correspondent in Patuakhali adds: At least 20 people were injured in a road accident on Patuakhali-Baufal road on Tuesday night.
The accident occurred when a Patuakhali-bound passenger bus from Baufal lost control and fell into a roadside ditch near Dumki Upazila Complex at about 7:30pm.
Two of the injured were rushed to Patuakhali General Hospital.
