Jute mill workers vow to boycott KCC polls
Workers of Khalishpur industrial belt have decided to boycott the upcoming KCC elections although the six mayoral candidates have expressed solidarity with their ongoing movement.
Convener of the state-owned jute mills development regional committee Gazi Mohammad Masum yesterday said workers would stick to their decision to boycott the KCC elections as they do not want to be biased by the lip service of the mayoral candidates any more.
“No political leader stood by our side to resolve our crisis at present or in the past. So, jute mill workers will boycott the KCC polls,” Gazi Masum added.
Earlier on Wednesday, the mayoral aspirants participated in a dialogue with jute mill leaders.
The mayoral candidates called on the jute mill workers to withdraw their KCC polls boycott programme. They also assured them to resolve the crisis after elections.
