'Implement 7th wage board immediately'
Journalists at a rally in the port city yesterday called for immediate implementation of the 7th wage board in all newspapers.
Chittagong Union of Journalists (CUJ) organised the rally as part of the countrywide programme announced by Bangladesh Federal Union of Journalists (BFUJ) on Chittagong Press Club premises.
Journalists and employees of different newspapers are now passing a miserable life due to the spiraling price of essentials, said the journalist leaders at the rally.
A committee comprising representatives from both the newspaper owners and journalist community has announced the 7th wage board and the government made gazette notification turning it into a law.
The journalists and press employees expect the newspapers owners to show respect to the law and implement the wage board immediately, they said.
Otherwise, the journalists and newspaper employees would be forced to launch tougher agitations, they added.
