Charges against Hasina
Is it not prudent for Sheikh Hasina and her supporters to demand that she be tried in an open Court of Law (televised, if possible) to clear her name from all the corruption charges brought against her? The alleged lingering scandals, such as the MIG-purchase-affairs, have been haunting her for a long time. Instead of trying to clear her name through a court verdict, she has been trying hard to squash the corruption cases against her from being tried in the court. If she is innocent, what is she afraid of?
In Canada, when RCMP (similar to the FBI in the U.S.) was investigating a corruption charge against a former prime minister of Canada, Mr. Brian Mulroney, it was Mr. Mulroney who went to the court of law and sued RCMP to clear his name. At that time, Mr. Mulroney stated that if he did not clear his name against this charge, his children would have thought that their father was a thief. He won the case and thus cleared his name once and for all.
If Sheikh Hasina is not tried in the court to get her name cleared, dark clouds of suspicion will always hover over her head.
