Call to re-fix CNG-run bus fares
Consumers Association of Bangladesh (Cab), the country's only watchdog body that promotes and protects consumer rights, yesterday demanded the government to re-fix the fares of CNG-run buses.
They also demanded the authorities to include representatives from customers to re-fix fares at reasonable rates, and called for stopping the present system of collecting fares of the CNG-run buses.
Cab in a press release urged the government to keep the list of road distance of all metropolitan cities at different bus stands in the city.
"Fixing of minimum fares at Tk 5 is nothing but harassment of the passengers," Cab in a release said.
Different buses are collecting different fares from the passengers, which caused sufferings to them, it added.
Cab hoped that the government would take proper steps to cool down public dissatisfaction regarding high fares of CNG-run buses.
Cab urged the government to discuss with representative from the CNG-run bus owners, passengers, civil society, professional bodies and politicians to re-fix the fares.
