Former agriculture minister MK Anwar, his son, brother and five other people were sued on extortion charges in Comilla yesterday.
Ahmad Ali, of Munshikandi village in Homna upazila, filed the case with the district judicial magistrate court.
Other accused in the case are: Anwar's son Mahmud Kaiser Anwar, brother Morshed Anwar, Meghna upazila unit Jubo Dal general secretary Jahirul Islam, Bashir Uddin, Arshad Molla, Jahangir Alam and Shahjahan.
The plaintiff stated that the accused grabbed eight decimals of his land and shop as he refused to pay them Tk 5 lakh in toll.
"They also attacked me, ransacked my two shops built on the piece of land and looted valuables on May 14, 2004. They filed four false cases against me over the incident," he said.
He said he gave Tk 2 lakh as extortion to Anwar on May 7 this year in order to get back his land.
Magistrate Sarwar Ahmed ordered officer in-charge at Homna Police Station to investigate the case.
Anwar was sent to jail on surrendered to a Dhaka court last month in connection with the Gatco graft case.
