The Indian cricket team arrived in the capital yesterday to take part in the ongoing tri-nation Kitply Cup.
Led by Mahendra Singh Dhoni, they strode out the Zia Interna-tional Airport after arriving by an early morning flight. India however are here without batting great Sachin Tendulkar, who is suffering from a groin injury.
The weeklong day-night tournament already kicked off with the match between hosts Bangladesh and Pakistan at the Sher-e-Bangla National Stadium in Mirpur yesterday.
The Indian players, who were involved in the popular Indian Premier League (IPL), will enjoy a rest day and practice today morning after which they will hold a press conference.
Young batsman Suresh Raina was confident that his side would reach the final of the tournament.
“We are a young side and are looking forward to making it to the final,” said the stylish left-hander.
After the league matches, the top two teams will play in the final slated for June 14 also at the same venue.
