SCB lift bank cricket title
Standard Chartered Bank emerged champions of the first-ever Banker's Cricket League after they beat Eastern Bank Limited by three wickets in the final at the Dhanmondi Cricket Stadium yesterday.
The rain-interrupted final saw two days of action after play was suspended on Friday after EBL had batted first and were bowled out for 120 in 30.2 overs. Sanjay (31) and Sujon (25) contributed with the bat but their efforts were cut short by Bobby's inspired spell. The paceman took three wickets giving away only 12 runs.
On Saturday, Standard Chartered reached the target in 31.5 overs, losing seven wickets. Choyon made 60 to repel an inspired spell of fast bowling from man-of-the-tournament Shuvro, who took four wickets.
Choyon received his man-of-the-match award from Standard Chartered CEO Osman Morad. Standard Chartered chief operations officer Ejaz Bijoy, Managing director of EBL Ali Reza Iftekhar, deputy managing director of EBL Mokhlesur Rahman and Arman Islam, chairman of the organising committee, was present during the prize-giving ceremony.
