Dollar higher
The dollar advanced against other major currencies on Monday as the market awaited a raft of economic data this week for fresh leads clues on the extent of the US economic slowdown, dealers said.
In European trading, the euro dropped to 1.5435 dollars from 1.5481 in New York late on Friday.
The dollar rose to 103.83 yen from 102.82 yen.
The US currency gained ground as speculators adjusted positions following heavy selling of the dollar on Friday when traders bet on steady eurozone interest rates and mulled news of a big quarterly loss at US insurance giant AIG, traders said.
