Trader killed in hail of bullets in city
Unidentified armed assailants killed a building material supplier in the capital Thursday noon, pumping at least 15 bullets into the victim.
The victim was identified as Ferdous Rahman, 26, son of Arifur Rahman of East Jurain.
Witnesses said five armed men attacked Ferdous while he was waiting at a mobile phone centre on Shahid Moktar Hossain Road in Jurain. The attackers fired at least 20 shots indiscriminately, witnesses said.
Local residents rushed him to Dhaka Medical College Hospital (DMCH) where doctors declared him dead.
Shyampur police said they arrested a man named Alamgir, who was among the people who rushed Ferdous to the hospital, in this connection.
Babul Hossain, maternal uncle of the deceased, said Ferdous used to supply sand, bricks, and cement to real estate developers.
He, however, could not say what could be the motive behind the killing.
