Hasina misquoted on Dr Kamal's money-whitening
Detained former premier and Awami League chief Sheikh Hasina yesterday claimed she was misquoted regarding black money whitened by Dr Kamal Hossain.
"I did not mention the amount specifically as Tk 102 crore. But I know a lot more against him," Hasina said.
The AL chief claimed this as she reached the Special Court-1 of Judge Firoz Alam in the morning that later adjourned the charge-framing hearing against her in the barge-mounted power plant case till May 6.
Meanwhile, a Dhaka court yesterday stayed the procedure of returning Hasina's passport and other materials seized by police from her Dhanmondi residence.
Metropolitan Magistrate Abdullah Al Mamun delivered the order after submission of a report by Sub-inspector Julfiqer Ali of Dhanmondi Police Station.
The investigation officer in his report submitted before the magistrate mentioned that as it is a sub-judicial matter, it is not possible to return the passport.
The court however fixed May 26 as the next date of hearing on the issue.
Earlier on July 16, Dhanmondi police seized the passport and other materials from Hasina's residence and filed a general diary.
Later on March 12, Hasina's lawyers appealed before the court for return of these materials and the court also ordered in favour of the appeal.
