Female tenant killed following altercation
A female tenant was killed at Bonosree of the city's Khilgaon area yesterday after wife of the house owner allegedly pushed her following an altercation over water supply.
Jahangir Alam, husband of the deceased China Begum, 22, alleged that his wife died after Nurunnahar, wife of the house owner, pushed her following the brawl.
The fracas occurred when China asked Nurunnahar for ensuring water supply at around 7:00am, Jahangir told The Daily Star.
He also alleged that after China died, Nurunnahar with the help of some others, hanged her body from the ceiling fan of his house. He said he was not in his residence at that time.
Nurunnahar, however, denied the allegations brought against her.
Officer-in-Charge (OC) of Khilgaon Police Station Jahidur Rahman said they hauled Nurunnahar to the police station for questioning. The OC said a UD case has been filed and if autopsy report suggests that she was murdered, the case will be turned into a murder case.
Earlier, police recovered the body and sent it to Dhaka Medical College Hospital morgue for autopsy. Morgue sources said a mark of injury was found behind the head of the deceased.
