Moneylender's men hurt 5, loot goods worth Tk 10 lakh

Attackers injured five people including a woman of a minority family at Kunvakhali village under Baufal upazila in Patuakhali district on Friday.
The gang also kidnapped a member of a family and looted Tk 10 lakh in cash and kind from the house.
Police later rescued the abducted but could not arrest any of the attackers.
Farmer Bipen Das took Tk 70,000 as loan (on interest basis) from Liton Sikder two months ago for cultivating aman paddy on his land, said locals and police.
Friday was the scheduled day to repay the loan with interest. By the time Bipen managed Tk 50,000 by selling trees and others movable assets and offered it to Liton.
But Liton became very angry and declined to accept it.
In the afternoon, a gang of 25/30 people led by him attacked Bipen's house and beat up Bipen and his wife Aroti Rani, 35, and three others.
The gang also looted cash Tk 50,000 (that had been managed for Liton), a tractor, a pump machine, a wheelbarrow, two cows, and valuables.
The value of the looted items would be Tk 10 lakh, said familiy sources.
The gang also kidnapped Bipen's elder brother Robin, 50. Police rescued him from Jhilna village under the upazila at about 8:00pm on Friday.
Aroti Rani filed a case with Baufal police station accusing Liton and others for the incident.
