A weeklong workshop of Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra began in the city yesterday to help increase the expertise of women journalists.
Some 26 women journalists from outside Dhaka are taking part in the workshop sponsored by the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA).
At the inaugural session at the training room of Family Planning Association of Bangladesh, journalist Jaglul Ahmed Chowdhury, chief editor and managing director of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha (BSS), said women journalists in Bangladesh ranks lowest among the South Asian countries and the situation should be changed.
President of Bangladesh Nari Sangbadik Kendra Nasimun Ara Huq Minu presided over the inaugural session.
