Jets clinch A-League

Newcastle Jets won a drama-charged Australian A-League grand final 1-0 with the Central Coast Mariners players furious over a disallowed injury-time penalty at the Sydney Football Stadium on Sunday.
A 64th-minute strike by Mark Bridge off a defensive mistake by former Socceroo Tony Vidmar clinched Newcastle their first A-League title.
But the season decider finished in uproar when the Mariners disputed referee Mark Shield's refusal to award a penalty off an apparent handball in the Jets' penalty area.
A corner from Tom Pondeljak appeared to strike the arm of substitute James Holland, prompting a posse of Mariners' players to converge on the referee screaming for a last-gasp penalty in the third minute of injury time.
