Indian nationals beat a Bangladeshi citizen to death after he illegally entered the Indian territory through Rokonpur border in Chapainawabganj district on Thursday.
The deceased was identified as Asadur Rahman, 34, son of Mozaffar Hossain of Akkelpur village under Gomostapur upazila in the district.
Asadur went to visit his relatives at Batsha village in Maldah district of West Bengal on Wednesday, said Major Sharif Mohammad Hasan, deputy commanding officer of 43 BGB battalion in Naogaon.
Some miscreants beat Asadur to death during his stay at his relatives' house on Thursday, he said quoting the family members.
On receiving information from relatives at Maldah that Asadur was beaten to death by miscreants, his family members informed the matter to Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB) officials at Rokonpur camp.
Later, BGB officials contacted BSF members and had been informed that Indian police recovered Asadur's body from the spot and sent it to Maldah Hospital morgue for an autopsy.
The body has been kept at the hospital after completion of the autopsy.
