'Local govt should receive funds from nat'l budget'
Political empowerment would not be effective without economic empowerment, said the leaders and activists of the Communist Party of Bangladesh (CPB) at a workshop yesterday.
The workshop titled 'People's empowerment, parliament and local government' was held at its central office in the capital.
It was attended by CPB central leaders and activists from different districts.
The speakers said civil administration will have to be decentralised and budget for the local government will have to be allocated from the national budget.
CPB President Manjurul Ahsan Khan said free and fair election will not be possible without making the election free from muscle power and black money.
CPB General Secretary Mujahidul Islam Selim said political empowerment will not be effective ignoring the economic empowerment.
