Four held from Comilla, Faridpur
Four alleged robbers were arrested from Comilla and Faridpur on Monday and early yesterday in connection with robbery at the house of a former ward councilor of Dhaka City Corporation (DCC) in the capital's Kuril area on July 28.
The arrestees are Iqbal alias Alamgir, 27, Md Khalil Mahbub, 57, Zahir, 25, and Goni, 25.
Detective Branch (DB) of police also recovered a licensed revolver and some gold ornaments, which were looted from the house, from their possession.
Earlier on July 31, the DB arrested Sabbir, 24, from Homna of Comilla in connection with the incident.
DB Senior Assistant Commissioner Md Nazmul Islam said they arrested Iqbal from Meghna of Comilla on Monday following confession of Sabbir.
While, Khalil and Zahir were nabbed from Comilla, and Goni from Faridpur following confession of Iqbal.
DB Assistant Commissioner Mohammad Tarek Bin Rashid said the arrestees are members of inter-district robbers' gang.
They looted valuables including around 100 tolas of gold ornaments, Tk 6 lakh in cash and a licenced revolver from the house of former DCC ward councilor Kazi Hazrat Ali, he said.
The robbers looted the valuables after tying up all family members at gun point.
