Two muggers arrested
Police arrested two members of a muggers' gang in Chittagong city yesterday.
Nur Uddin, 50, from Anwara, and Mohammed Nasir, 42, from Halishahar of the city, were arrested in connection with a mugging case filed on June 19 by Nurul Absar, from Gachbaria village of Chandanaish upazila.
On June 19, four men with sharp weapons swooped on Nurul while he was going home coming back from Saudi Arabia, said Nurul.
They took away his valuables, including his passport, air ticket, Akama (Approval of working abroad), three mobile phone sets and a luggage.
The next day, the muggers phoned Nurul and asked for Tk 50 thousand in exchange of the passport, Akama and air ticket.
Nurul agreed to pay the amount after few days but they did not come to take money that time.
Few days back, they again contacted Nurul and asked him to come in Saltgola area of the city with the money.
Nurul went to meet them after informing police and then police arrested the two from the place.
