Party men declare Dulu 'unwanted'
Jatiyatabadi Swechchasebok Dal Rangpur unit and a few leaders and activists of district BNP and Jubo Dal yesterday refused to accept Asadul Habib Dulu as party's organising secretary for Rangpur division.
Terming Dulu reformist, they declared him 'unwanted' in Rangpur and burnt his effigy. After parading city streets in a procession, the agitating BNP men held a rally in front of the local press club.
The rally was addressed, among other, by Abdus Salam, assistant organising secretary of Swechchasebok Dal central unit, local BNP leader Fazlur Rahman Babu and Swechchasebok Dal leader Nurun Nabi.
The speakers said Dulu along with some other opportunists planned to reform the party during the rule of caretaker government. As he wants to take advantage of any situation, the dedicated BNP men cannot accept an opportunist as their leader, they said.
Contacted, District BNP Joint Convener Shamsuzzaman Samu said some leaders and activists of Swechchasebok Dal district unit took out a procession in the city against Asadul Habib Dulu.
He said leaders and activists of Rangpur district BNP and its associate bodies did not join the programme. “We will discuss the matter in our next meeting,” he added.
