Wajed Ali passes away
Wajed Ali
Syed Wajed Ali, former administrative officer of Bangladesh Forest Department, died of old age complications at the Bangladesh Medical College Hospital on Wednesday night. He was 73.
He left behind his wife, a son, a daughter and a host of relatives and well wishers to mourn the death.
Wajed's namaj-e-janajas were held at the Gabtala Mosque in Jigatola and Azimpur before he was buried at the Azimpur graveyard. His kulkhwani will be held at his Maneshwar Road residence tomorrow after the Asr prayers.
His son Syed Saidur Rahman Shamim, a former Premier League cricketer, is a renowned sports journalist working for Channel i.
Members of Bangladesh Sports Journalists Association (BSJA) expressed deep shock over the death of Wajed and prayed for the salvation of the departed soul. BSJA, where Shamim is the treasurer of the executive committee, also expressed its sympathy for the bereaved family.
Bangladesh Sports Writers Association also condoled the death.
