A party for the ruling party
On 17th April, The Daily Star published a photo which showed that the Bangabandhu Stadium was being prepared for giving a reception to our Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina by the Jubo League, a ruling party organisation. While we thank the prime minister and the government for 'winning a verdict over Myanmar' (as they claim), it does not mean that a football pitch has to be sacrificed for arranging that reception. It is the domestic football season, and it will be a big setback for the clubs and the players.
Moreover, their programme will undoubtedly damage the expensive turf (it is not the cheap grass that they lay in the school football fields). However, the government and the ruling party are busy partying.
