Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid has said the government is contemplating separate books for people with disabilities with a view to ensuring their rights to education. Their teachers would also be given specialised training, he added.
The minister was addressing as chief guest a function organised by the UK-based organisation 'Apasenth', which works for the people with disability, at the Sylhet Zila Parishad auditorium.
The function was organised on the occasion of launching the programmes of the organisation in the Sylhet region.
Nahid said change in people's mindsets towards the disabled was very important.
Speaking as special guest, visiting British MP Richard Fuller said a good number of Bangladeshi immigrants were working for the betterment of the disabled in the UK.
Shahjalal University's Assistant Prof Mosaddek Ahmed Chowdhury presented the keynote paper while Apasenth Chairperson Amir Hossain chaired the programme.
