Govt to set up tourism university
The government plans to set up "World Tourism University (WTU)" to create skilled human resources to meet the growing demand of tourism and hospitality industry at home and abroad.
“We want to establish the tourism university, first of its kind in the world, under public private partnership (PPP)”, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Lt Col (retd) Faruk Khan told the news agency yesterday.
One acre of land has recently been earmarked in the city's Sher-e-Bangla Nagar for the university, he said.
Faruk Khan said his ministry had already discussed the matter with some entrepreneurs in the UK, USA, Canada and China.
“We'll urge foreign entrepreneurs to invest in the project alongside Bangladeshi entrepreneurs”.
The university would help create employment opportunities in Bangladesh, the minister said.
